Honeyed Poached Pears in Puff Pastry

Ahhhh!!! February, the month of love and giving, being thankful for family and love ones, speaking of love, I love poaching pears now (lol) this recipe is probably the most elegant and simple dessert I’ve made so far. I always thought that poaching was hard but like my motto “make something new every other day” I just went for it, and it turns out its easy and pretty I mean look at the picture, I swear if I had better lighting and a betterĀ  camera other than my android phone I would have styled it up but this was a last minute idea, I wanted to serve these beauties warm. My baby and I loved em and I will certainly be making these again I mean whats not to love about this nothing absolutely nothing, make this dessert for special occasion like Valentines day or if you just feeling really romantic and wanted to make a romantic, sexy dish which I think this is.Wanna impress in a social gathering or party, then make this for dessert and everyone will go OHHHH & AHHhhhh and say ” wow this is delicious and pretty” and when they see this dish, it may look like you slaved away in the kitchen when in reality it was easy but they don’t know that and they don’t need to. Like I say what goes on in your kitchen is none of your guest’s business lol.

Poaching Pears

Lets get to poaching, now core the pears from the bottom, peel and leave the stems on making sure that the pears can stand on their on. Heat up water, sugar, honey and your favorite spices. Use what ever spices you like but with me I use an 2 Orange peel, 1 and half a stick of cinnamon and I vanilla bean pod scrape and with the pods in. Poach the Pears for 20-30 minutes until soft and tender but still firm.Save 11/2 cup of poaching liquid.

Baked Pears

Once the Pears are done set them aside and cut strips out of your Puff Pastry that’s been thawed, try to cut them as even as possible ( one sheet of puff pastry is good for 2 pears, you can double this recipe for making for a larger crowd) wrap the puff pastry starting from the bottom up sealing each puff pastry to the other with water. Bake in a 400 degree preheated oven for 15-20 minutes till golden and puff.Poaching Liquid

While your pears are cooking simmer your reserve poaching liquid till it becomes thick and syrupy and drizzle the syrup over cook pears. DONE~Easy Right
