Bourbon and Soy Sauce

Last Friday Thursday evening came to another grinding halt~what to make for dinner?~hahaha and lately I just been having a brain fart on what to make or what to do with the thaw meats that I let to thaw in the fridge to have for next day’s dinner. Well Last Thursday was one of those moments so I started raiding the pantry to see what I can come up with and then I saw my Bourbon(cheap bourbon by the way because I use it for cooking not drinking lol) and soy sauce and then it Clicked

Bourbon Chicken~Ok now I been searching for a Bourbon chicken recipe recently before I had the brain fart for what to make for Thursday dinner and well one thing was bugging me on other people who tried to make bourbon chicken, it had no bourbon in the recipe~ its called bourbon chicken~it needs to have bourbon whiskey in the recipe to be called bourbon chicken right?~well I came up with my own and its another home run~an easy few ingredients in the kitchen stir-fry recipe perfect for weeknight dinners or lunch, super easy and will go with any meats. Note: Just buy a cheap bourbon whiskey for under 10 bucks for this recipe if your like bourbon and dont want to use the good stuff.


Bourbon Chicken

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Yield: 2-3


  • 1 Pound of boneless, skinless chicken breast cut into chunks
  • 1/2 Cup bourbon whiskey
  • 1/2 Cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 Cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 2 Garlic cloves mince
  • 1/2 Teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon corn starch & water
  • Jasmine rice


  1. In medium bowl combine bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, mince garlic & grated ginger. Divide mixture, marinade 1/2 with the chicken for 1-2 hour, take the left over bourbon sauce cook on a sauce pan for a 5 minutes to cook the alcohol on simmer. Heat a wok or a medium saute pan and cook the chicken and toss the marinade. Cook the chicken till it is no longer pink, add the bourbon sauce and still to coat the chicken, add the cornstarch and water to the bourbon chicken, cook till the sauce has thicken. Serve hot with Jasmine Rice. Enjoy.
