I don’t know if you know this but December is the Holiday month and you know that I had to make a holiday Coffee Cake for breakfast right? well yeah!!! off course I think that if your gonna celebrate the Holidays this month celebrate it not just with gifts and presents but also with food and breakfast is the best way to start.My Vanilla Egg Nog Gingerbread Streusel Coffee cake will do just that~its a dense and chewy and full of warm spices and off vanilla that will make any holiday mornings with your family or friends wonderful and that much more special~its Crunchy and soft pillowy of a breakfast cake with a bourbon Vanilla Cream Cheese glaze that adds that nice perfect touch~I mean I will always say this but you cant go wrong with a coffee cake for breakfast~it sells it self~Coffee Cake in the morning~you families will go ” Yes Please and with a nice warm cup of Joe on the side” thank you and really that’s all~start your holiday celebration with a cake because 1. Cake is always welcome and 2. You get to have cake for breakfast in the morning~ DUHHHH!!! Seriously and if you say no to cake~Bah Humbug to you my good SIr LOL or Madam~

Vanilla Egg Nog Gingerbread Streusel Coffee Cake

Note: I forgot to add the molasses on the streusel topping but it turn out really good without it~you can taste the orange zest and the ginger and gives the coffee cake this nice orange flavor paired with the dense and chewy vanilla eggnog flavors of the cake~so you can omit the Molasses you like~


Vanilla Eggnog Gingerbread Streusel Coffee Cake

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 55 minutes

Yield: 8-10


  • Gingerbread Streusel Topping
  • 1 1/4 Cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 Cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 Cup quick cooking oats ( old fashion oats works fine)
  • Zest of 1 Orange
  • 1 Tablespoon grated fresh ginger root
  • 1 Teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 Teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon Molasses
  • 1/2 stick of butter melted
  • Vanilla Eggnog Coffee Cake
  • 1 3/4 Cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 Cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar
  • 2 Teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 Teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 Eggs, beaten lightly
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1/2 Cup of Vanilla Eggnog
  • Bourbon Vanilla Cream Cheese Glaze:
  • 4 Oz room temperature cream cheese
  • 1 Teaspoon bourbon whiskey
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 Cups powdered sugar
  • 1-3 Tablespoon milk


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour 10 inch spring-form pan.Set aside.
  2. Steusel topping: Whisk together flour, oats, spices, orange zest, ginger-root sugar, molasses and melted butter till it resembles crumbles. Set aside.
  3. Vanilla Eggnog Coffee Cake: In bowl whisk together all the dry ingredients, in another bowl mix together eggs, sour cream, vanilla extract and vanilla eggnog and add in to the dry mixture till just combine. add half of the Vanilla eggnog batter to the prepared pan and sprinkle half of the streusel topping, add the remaining vanilla eggnog batter on top and the streusel topping and bake in the middle of the oven for 45-50 Minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean and the coffee cake is golden brown on top.
  4. Bourbon Vanilla Cream Cheese Glaze:
  5. Whisk all the ingredients together in a bowl~add more milk to your desired consistency
